TRAINING THE NEXT GENERATION OF TEACHERS
Preserving the Classical method. Elevating the standard of teaching.
At LifeBody, education sits at the centre of everything we do.
Our teacher training, workshops and mentorship programmes are designed to honour Joseph Pilates’ original system and to develop teachers who can pass it on with clarity, intelligence and integrity.
We don’t simply certify teachers.
We shape them.
Pilates is not just taught.
It’s studied, practised and lived.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Why We Teach the Way We Do
My journey began in contemporary Pilates. I had strong foundations and world-class mentors — including the co-founder of Body Control Pilates but something felt incomplete.
Reformer and matwork were taught as different languages.
The method felt fragmented.
When I found Classical Pilates, everything aligned.
The system made sense.
The order had purpose.
The work connected.
There shouldn’t be a divide between “classical” and “contemporary.”
There should simply be Pilates or as Joseph Pilates named it, The Art of Control.
But over time, the method has been diluted. With little regulation in the industry, quality is inconsistent, depth is rare, and many teachers are left without the confidence or clarity they need.
This is why choosing your training truly matters.
It’s not just what you learn but how you learn, who guides you, and the depth of support that shapes you.
WHAT MAKES LIFEBODY DIFFERENT?
Observation, practice, self practice
Exposure to multiple teachers
Small group learning
Mentorship
A System-Based, Mentorship-Led Approach
Pilates is a lifelong practice. Memorising the repertoire is only the beginning real teaching starts when you can see the body, cue with purpose and use the system intelligently.
Today, Pilates is more popular than ever, but with that has come noise, dilution and confusion. To stand out, teachers need more than a certificate. They need depth, clarity and a true understanding of the method the order, the movement and the person in front of them.
This is the standard we uphold at LifeBody.
Our training develops teachers who think deeply, teach intuitively and move with real understanding.
Pilates is a lifelong journey.
This training is your beginning.

You’ll learn how the entire method connects, how to see and teach real bodies, and how to build confidence through mentorship, observation, and practice. We focus on developing thoughtful, skilled teachers who understand why they’re teaching each movement, not just how.

The full programme runs over nine months and combines in-person training weekends, self-practice, observation hours, and teaching practice. You’ll also have access to our online resources, mentorship, and feedback sessions throughout. The structure is designed to fit around work and family life while maintaining the depth and consistency needed to become a confident teacher.

A consistent personal practice is recommended before starting the course. It’s important to understand that the Pilates industry is currently not formally regulated meaning no Pilates qualification is officially accredited.
However, the LifeBody Teacher Training is widely recognised within the industry, particularly among classical studios, and will allow you to teach confidently across both classical and contemporary settings. Many contemporary-trained teachers find it difficult to transition into classical environments, but our comprehensive training gives you the full system and understanding to work in both.
On completion, you’ll also be eligible for professional teaching insurance (we offer discounted cover through Balens) and can apply for opportunities across the UK and internationally including at LifeBody and Soho House locations.
